Running for Community: The 47th Annual Cabbagetown Mini-Marathon

On September 13, 2026, the Cabbagetown community came together for the 47th Annual Cabbagetown Mini-Marathon, bringing together more than 400 runners, walkers, families, volunteers and supporters of all ages for a day of movement, connection and community fundraising.

From young children to seasoned runners, participants of all ages and age groups took part, and even a few four-legged friends joined the fun. Now known as Blair’s Run, the annual event is a longstanding part of the Cabbagetown Festival and helps raise funds in support of children and youth at the Cabbagetown Youth Centre.

But the impact of the Mini-Marathon extends far beyond race day.

Community-raised funds help Boys and Girls Club Toronto Kiwanis (BGCTK) provide children and youth with safe, welcoming spaces where they can learn, build friendships, develop new skills and access meaningful opportunities. These contributions support programs and services that help young people feel connected to their community while building confidence, skills and a strong sense of belonging.

“Blair’s Run is a wonderful example of what community can accomplish when we come together for our young people,” says Greg Gary, Executive Director of Boys and Girls Club TorontoKiwanis. “The energy we see on race day translates into meaningful opportunities for children and youth throughout the year. We are so grateful to everyone who participated, donated, volunteered and helped make this year’s event a success.”

The community spirit continued throughout the Cabbagetown Festival, where BGCTK  hosted a youth booth. Young people had the opportunity to engage with festival attendees, connect with their community and help bring the voices and energy of BGC Toronto Kiwanis into the celebration.

A special thank you goes to our dedicated volunteer marshals, who helped keep participants safe, supported the route and kept the event moving. Their time, energy and commitment were an important part of making Blair’s Run possible.

Thank you to every runner, walker, donor, volunteer, marshal, partner and community member who showed up for children and youth. Together, we are turning community spirit into opportunities for young people to learn, grow, connect and thrive.
