Helping Children, Supporting Families, Strengthening Communities
Our Programs
At CAPC St. James Town, we offer a variety of FREE programs to support families with young children (ages 0 to 6).
These programs run from September to June:
Mondays - Children Create
Location: Rose Avenue Public School, Room 131
Mondays 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm
Let your child’s imagination soar! Our program features open-ended arts & craft activities, and uses a variety of materials to encourage creativity, self-expression, and fine motor development. It’s a fun way for little ones to explore, make, and create!
Tuesdays - Toy and Book Lending Library / Play Basics
Location: Cabbagetown Youth Centre
Tuesdays 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Borrow, learn, and play! Families can explore a wide variety of books and toys that support learning through play. Join us for Play Basics discussions to learn how unstructured play builds your child’s skills and confidence.
Wednesdays - Moving Together
Location: Wellesley Community Centre
Wednesdays 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Get ready to move, jump, and play! Moving Together offers fun gross motor activities that help children develop strength, coordination, and confidence — while families bond and stay active together. Every day is a new adventure in movement!
Thursdays - Cooking From the Heart
Location: Rose Avenue Public School, Room 131
Thursdays 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm
Share traditions, learn new recipes, and cook with love! Cooking From the Heart brings families together to create healthy, delicious meals while building community connections. Food, laughter, and learning are always on the menu!
Fridays – Learning Sessions
Location: Rose Avenue Public School, Room 131
Time: 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Join us for engaging workshops on topics such as breastfeeding basics, immunization, managing stress, screen time, safe sleep, and nutrition, facilitated by Toronto Public Health and other community partners.
Stepping Stones: School Readiness Sessions
We also help connect families to Stepping Stones, a school readiness program led by SickKids’ Garry Hurvitz Centre for Community Mental Health. Working in partnership with SickKids, we provide staffing and support for this 8–10 session program, offered twice a year, which helps children and parents prepare for a smooth transition to kindergarten. Registration is required.
Summer Program
Looking for fun and learning this summer? Our free CAPC Summer Program runs during July and August, Monday to Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
